FAHRO MALIK - Chief Executive Officer

Fahro is responsible for co-founding and producing the annual London Teenage Poetry SLAM since 2003. She is a multilingual storyteller and specializes in running taster language lessons in schools, especially during March which is dedicated to Multilingual Month.

She collaborates with a wide range of artists/teachers and youth organizations. She is responsible for many poetry publications and films by school children and young people.

She is passionate about languages spoken in London and is eager that these are at the heart of all communities and are reflected in publications/films that celebrate young people's achievements.

NAZ MALIK - Stratagy and Project Manager

Naz became Chief Executive of AWEMA in July 2001, but his involvement with the organisation dates back to the beginning of 1999, when he served in its Economic Development Committee. Before his involvement with AWEMA, he was the Chairman of the Swansea Bay Racial Equality Council [SBREC], after volunteering for two years, up to 40 hours a week, whilst holding a full-time job as Principal Auditor in the NHS.

Before working for the NHS, he spent eight years as Managing Director of a leisure company specialising in racket sports. Indeed, following graduation from Swansea University with an Honours degree in Social Anthropology and Development Studies, where his dissertation involved researching an artisanal project in St Lucia,

Naz’ working life has been wide and varied. As well as the aforementioned roles, his career has encompassed the accountancy profession, as well as industry and the leisure trade. Outside of his work at AWEMA, he has a keen interest in international development issues, particularly in Africa.

SAQUIB ZIA - Finance and Fund Rasing

Saquib was born in Lahore, Pakistan where he completed a B.Com Degree at Punjab University, Lahore and bgean a career in accounting. Upon moving to the UK, he worked at Monmouthshire County Council, conducting an internal audit, before Saquib joining AWEMA in May 2005, as Finance Officer.

He has since been promoted to Finance Manager and is responsible for overseeing the financial aspects of various funded projects, such as the multi-million pound Curiad Calon Cymru (CCC) project with 20 Core Partners and 5 Wider Partners.

One of his major accomplishments was to successfully negotiate his role at AWEMA with undertaking the ACCA qualification, which he gained successfully in August 2007.

CHARLOTTE STUBBS – Film and Media
Charlotte

Charlotte Stubbs Deputy Manager, is entering her third year with Lynk Reach. The Project Manager for the 2007 London Teenage Poetry SLAM and for Commemorating 1807 projects.  She will continue her bird’s eye view by filming all the schools and communities in action and creating the DVD’s and CD’s for other Lynk Reach projects.

Before joining Lynk Reach in 2004, Charlotte worked with the Italian Arts and Culture Minister archiving and protecting Tibetan art work, Prior to enjoying the markets of Rome, Charlotte worked as an audio visual technician in Kuala Lumpur and was responsible along side Panasonic for opening the first digital gallery in Malaysia, while training young artists how to VJ. Charlotte is also an aspiring poet and painter.

SOPHIA HUSSAIN - Office Manager
Sophia

Sophia Hussain is Lynk Reach’s Office Manager and much more. Her background is in Design, including costumes for the 2006 Our Sporting Lives – Olympic Heritage Project and 2006 and 2007 SLAM publications. A keen photographer she has photographed several projects for Lynk Reach.

She has also been cast in the play A Lifetime On Tiptoes and Heer Ranjha as part of a community group who also wrote and performed a song for Heer Ranjha at the Bring It at Stratford Circus.

Outside of work she enjoys the theatre, cinema and visiting the lastest exhibitions in galleries and museums.

BISMARK ANOBAH - Youth Mentor/Dance and Drama Instructor/Film Editor

Having had a passion for the performing arts since a young age, Bismark sees dancing as more of a lifestyle than a job, constantly investing time in developing new concepts to try and cater to individuals. Bismark teaches for youth organisations and companies, as well as dabbling in drama projects and funding schemes aimed at schools in the community.

The dance collectives he dances and teaches for include ‘Reloaded’, ‘Ergonomikz’, ‘Ferimone’, ‘High on Hope’, ‘KCK’ and ‘Unity’, with which he won the 2007 IDO UK Street Dance Championships and came fifth in the IDO’s international competition in Bremen. He has put on dance festivals at Hackney Empire, as well as performing in the Lord Mayor’s Show and at the Roundhouse Theatre, the Barbican, the Millenium Dome and The Royal Theatre House.

Alongside dance, Bismark is also creating and editing films for Lynk Reach………

USMAN HUSSAIN - Technical Support/Administration

Usman Hussain is the Technical Administration at Lynk Reach. A vital member of our team, Usman helps with productions, projects and publications, whilst maintaining our office network and machines. He also played a role in Heer Ranja, a production at the Victoria & Albert Museum that was part of the Vaisakhi Festival in April 2007.

Outside of the office, Usman is currently studying for a BTEC National Diploma in Construction and is on his way to becoming a Civil Engineer. Usman also has qualifications in IT and Accounting.

At home, Usman works on his own little projects that involve hardware modification to computer and games consoles, including the XBOX 360 and the PSP, trying to help them achieve their full potential.

LAURA GISBY – Communications
Laura

Laura joined Lynk Reach in September 2007. She works as a researcher and editor alongside studying for an MSc in International Development at SOAS, EFL and English GCSE tutoring and volunteering at the Disasters Emergency Committee.

Before that, she was studying English at Oxford University, travelling and doing volunteer work in schools and orphanages in Latin America in her summer holidays.
