Congratulations to Kingsford Community School, Newham!

Kingsford Community School, Newham, were the Highest Scoring Team at the 2007 London Teenage Poetry SLAM, held on 23rd June 2007 at Stratford Circus. The Lammas School, new to the project, won Most Striking Line, whilst Holy Family Technology College won Most Striking Performance Technique.

Guest performances came from Chicago poets Langston Kerman and Christina Santana, with a special performance by students from Arch Bishop Michael Ramsey School. Pieces by dance troupes Replica and Unity also featured at the Final.

Judging the SLAM were poet and author Pie Corbett, poet, performer and workshop facilitator Patience Agbabi, and Peter Kahn (one of SLAM’s founders), who came to London from Chicago especially for this event!

The Jack Petchey Trophy
For the second year running, the Jack Petchey Foundation have given a generous grant of £15,500 to the London Teenage Poetry SLAM. Lynk Reach would like to thank the Foundation for its continued support.
Kingford Community School, the Highest Scoring Team at the London Teenage Poetry SLAM Final on 23rd June 2007, received the Jack Petchey Trophy, as well going on a poetry exchange trip to Chicago with their teacher and poet-coach in the autumn term.
