Congratulations went to Haggerston Secondary School, Hackney, for being the Highest Scoring Team and securing their place on the Chicago Exchange in October 2004. Once in Chicago they had the opportunity to perform their poetry in schools and clubs and take part in poetry workshops with the Chicago Young Authors. 

Lynk Reach once again hosted the highly successful 2004 London Teenage Poetry SLAM, a Spoken Word Poetry project aimed at engaging a diverse range of pupils.  The SLAM is based on the Chicago style SLAM event devised by teacher, poet and Artistic Director Peter Kahn in 2003. Lynk Reach teamed up with Jacob Sam-La Rose, the Artistic Director in 2004, to work with students in nine secondary schools in Barnet, Hackney, Islington, Newham, Lambeth, Southwark and Waltham Forest. The final SLAM event was held on the 26 June 2004 at the Bloomsbury Theatre and proved a roaring success!

The programme focussed on creating poetry for performance through team-driven workshops. As a result of the SLAM, Lynk Reach secured enough funding to produce a publication of the poetry performed on the day. The compilation includes a book of the poems plus a CD recording of the performances of the day and contains the evidence of high quality poetry produced by the students of all the teams that took part.
